YCombinator strikes with yet another hardware startup. Amulyte, a company started by two University of Waterloo alumni is working on a device that would support seniors in case of an emergency, wherever it happens.
At only $99, Amulyte bundles a slew of tech features. The device is able to detect person’s movement (or lack there of), it can accurately point to the location of the person using built-in GPS and nearby wifi signals, and an extended battery life does not require recharging for as long as a week. That’s not all, the team is also working on adding a two-way radio support, to provide emergency responders with an effective communication tool at just the right time.
Why is this so important? As the population ages, it is important that seniors maintain an active lifestyle, which allows them to enjoy life and to retain independence. At the same time, the families of the seniors would appreciate to always stay connected with their loved ones. Amulyte supports just that.
